Malborough Nomads 1871 Rugby Shirt
Classic, everyday shirts, 150 years in the making
In 1871, 21 rugby clubs came together in a restaurant in Pall Mall, London, to codify the sport they loved, creating a unified set of rules for the first time. Nearly 150 years later, Black & Blue 1871 have created a series of classic rugby shirts inspired by the style of those original clubs, fusing a traditional look with exceptional quality heavy slub cotton. Designed in the UK and manufactured with care and precision in Portugal, these shirts are built to withstand the rigours of everyday modern life, whether you’re hard at work at home or cheering on your local team at the pub.

- Vintage Malborough Nomads 1871 rugby shirt
- Heavyweight slub cotton gives the shirt a pre-worn feel
- Hard wearing yet soft and comfortable finish
- Traditional ‘old school’ shirt combines vintage colour dyes with a distressed wash to produce a nicely worn-in look and feel
- Embroidered 1871 detailing on back of neck

- Founder member of the Rugby Football Union
- The Nomads were founded in 1868 and originated as the old boy’s side of Marlborough College
- Their first game was a loss away at Richmond
- As the club grew they played against most of the London teams and recorded a great victory over Blackheath, the best side at the time in 1882
- The Nomads produced eight England internationals and one Scottish during their formation
- Marlborough Nomads disbanded in 1911 with most of the players joining Rosslyn Park
